This was our fifth time at Wildedge Retreat and it just keeps getting better and better!! Our favourite pavilion is Earth Song the view is spectacular ❤️The bed is THE most comfortable I’ve ever slept on ( including my own) and that’s saying something. The choice and quality of the food provisions are amazing - you literally couldn’t think of anything else you would need. Emma is so welcoming and makes you feel at home. Great secluded weekend escape No complaints. Just be careful driving there in the dark if you are leaving on a evening. The set up is fantastic and the spa bath is beautiful! It's a nice drive to the hunter valley wine region, but it's not close quick drive at all! Overall it's a great get away!

Perfect place for a getaway weekend. My partner and I booked the earth song pavilion for 3 nights (14/2-17/2), as soon as we drove up the private road and arrived at the gate we knew it would be a peaceful weekend. After we walked in to reception and met Alan he helped us carry our bags to the pavilion and gave us a rundown on the kitchen, spa and DVD player. The pavilion was awesome well laid out, clean and you couldn't fault a thing. The view from the balcony and spa was amazing especially one morning when we noticed the fog over the mountains. Alan went out of this way to make sure we had the best weekend and truly is the best host in the industry. Will definitely be staying again and will be recommending it to anyone looking to stay in the hunter region.

A True Retreat From Start to Finish, the experience at Wild Edge was amazing, we were contacted by Andrew on the morning of the day of our arrival to ensure we knew how to find the place and were given some helpful hints about what to bring. Arriving and making the short walk to reception we were blown away by the view and the grounds. Andrew greeted us with a warm and friendly welcome and we were then taken with our luggage to our Pavilion by buggy along the board walk that connects the pavilions with reception and the car park. The Pavilion was perfect, tastefully decorated, well appointed with attention to detail that would put many 5 star hotels to shame. The cleanliness was flawless, and lots of thoughtful touches included, not least the generous breakfast provisions. Andrew gave us a run through in how to operate everything, including the ready to light fireplace that was backed up with plenty of wood to keep it going. Some relaxation music was already playing on the Bose sound system and it did not take long to unwind, we spent the rest of the afternoon on the ample verandah relaxing on the day bed and soaking up the winter sun,enjoying the breathtaking view, whilst sheltered from the light breeze by the privacy screens at each end of the verandah. As the sun went down we moved inside to the comfy lounge to enjoy a drop from the Wollombi Vineyard, which is close to the turn off to Wilde Edge , we took advantage of the wide selection of Foxtel programs , complemented by the extensive library of free DVD's available at reception. The two person Spa bath is a treat, get in before the sun goes down to admire the view whilst you relax, alternately you can use the Rain shower head in the large shower cubical that features a frame less screen so as not to interrupt the view ( there is a full down roll down curtain if you don't want the birds looking at you). The bed was super comfortable, I believe no matter how great a room is, if the bed is bad the whole stay is bad, this bed was great, as were the pillows .... we slept like babies and the roll down curtains did a great job of allowing us a sleep in. The view in the morning was special with low fog concealing the valley below, birds fluttering about the verandah as we enjoyed our hot breakfast and watch the fog burn off to reveal the valley below . After a short trip to town to collect a paper and some lunch provisions the rest of the day was spent much like the first, just relaxing in the quietness and complete privacy soaking up the winter sun and wishing we never had to return to the world. If you really want to get away from it all, but still indulge yourself , this is the place to stay, we are already planning our next stay in the summer months to enjoy a pavilion with a pool.

Breathtaking escape! Wild Edge is everything you'd hope it would be and more! Unlike large resorts, this beautiful sanctuary is personal, private & immaculate, so clean that you feel like no one has ever stayed before you - what a welcome change! From the minute we arrived, Alan took care of our every need, I mentioned I was Coeliac and upon arrival I discovered that both my husband and myself had been thought of with the inclusion of beautiful gluten free breakfast provisions for myself and other lovely goodies for him. Our pavillion was luxurious but sooo comfortable, you will want for nothing. Thank you Alan, we will definitely be back soon! Nicole, Brisbane.

Absolutely Beautiful Oasis!! We have not a single compliant about this beautiful tranquil oasis in the hunter! If you like luxurious with a breathtaking view of the valley this retreat will tick that box! With plentiful breakfast provisions and a jet spa with a bay window overlooking the hunter in the earth song pavillion you won't want to leave. It might be a few extra kms from the centre of the hunter but it's exactly what you want to return to at the end of a long day of wine tasting!! Would definitely return here and would highly recommend this romantic getaway for any couple.

Secluded Retreat My wife and I stayed at Wild Edge Retreat for two nights in May 2015. What an incredible experience. It's a selcuded retreat hidden away on the top of a mountain with only 4 Pavilions. Your only 40 minutes away from the Pokolbin/Hunter Wineries but it feels like you are miles from nowhere. The Hosts are fantastic, Alan was most welcoming and very helpful. They had the candles lit and the fire ready to go on our arrival and the place smelt wonderful. We stayed in the Whispering Forest Pavilion which was well presented, so clean and included a wood fire, heating, a comfy King size bed and a huge deck overlooking the valley below. Very modern but cosy as well. Foxtel & Wifi are also welcome inclusions.The place is so pieceful. They have Wombats and many birds roaming the retreat. If your looking for a romantic weekend away this is the place.

Fantastic stay First stayed at wild edge 12 years ago, back again for our wedding anniversary and we were suitably impressed. The new owners have really enhanced an already great product and even the most discerning traveller would be hard pushed to find any faults. Romantic hideaway I chose this beautiful place to spend my 50th with my very romantic husband. We only had two nights at Wild Edge Retreat but it was superb. We had perfect weather. We were able to sit out on the deck of the Nature's Mist pavilion till late and lazily work our way through our cheese platter, sipping delicious Hunter Valley wine. The breakfast provisions were ample, including the hot cross buns we received for Easter. The pavilions are spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfortable. Andrew and Alan helped us out when my husband forgot to bring crackers and brought us a bowlful! This retreat is immaculate and we really did feel like we retreated from the world for two days. Loved it!

Tranquility! Relaxing! Perfect! Clean! Amazing! We were booked for three nights at another tourist retreat in the Hunter, but after two nights we couldn't face a third. We were driving through Wollombi when we saw the Wild Edge Retreat sign and decided to drive up the road to see if they had availability. Fortunately there was one Pavilion available. We were immediately impressed by the tranquility on arrival and the outstanding service. Considering ours was a last minute booking, everything was well above our expectation. The accommodation was AMAZING, CLEAN and RELAXING! We loved the scent of the oil burner, the music and the great breakfast supplies........everything was perfect. Best weekend ever! We booked for our 10year Wedding Anniversary to try something different. The quality and attention to detail was amazing. This accommodation totally exceeded our expectations in every way! We will without a doubt be going back. Everything was perfect! Andrew you were such a pleasure. Such a quiet and secluded location.. My happy place. There is nowhere quite like it. From the drive up the mountain, to the warm welcome, to the deep plunge pool and private villa everything is perfect.

Hideaway in the hills I just spent a lovely weekend for my 30th birthday at Wild Edge Retreat with my husband. We stayed in the Nature's Mist pavillion, which overlooked the beautiful valley. The pavillion was impeccably tidy and clean for a place in the middle of the trees. And the attention to detail was impressive. We found we brought things along that we didn't need (frypan, utensils, etc). Don't bother, they have it all covered. The breakfast provisions were scrumptious and it was no problem to ask for more if you need. It's clear the idea of this place is peace and quiet while being close to nature. Andrew (and Ruby) were very welcoming and helpful when we arrived and explained the features of the room. Beyond that, we had the space to ourselves and barely saw anyone in the whole retreat. The seclusion was lovely and apt for the location. Overall Wild Edge is for people who enjoy luxury accommodation with bush surroundings and a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended for a romantic long weekend or a surprise getaway for a special occasion.

Genuinely my favourite place on the surface of the earth If you could reach into our heads and pull our all of the things that would make our perfect holiday, Wild Edge would be it. A beautiful location with an incredible uninterrupted view of the bush/jungle, a pavilion so private that you feel like the only people around for miles, a private pool, a beautiful and large outdoor deck for eating, yoga and playing cards on the day bed, a bbq for outdoor cooking every morning and night, an incredible spa bath and tropical shower, indigenous toiletries, absolutely lovely hosts who absolutely get what you need on a trip like this and provide everything that make it special as well as all of the essentials, and the kind of animals wandering around that you want to see (kangaroos on the drive up, goannas on site) but no huge spiders?! (how did they do that?!) Seriously though, we're lucky to have stayed in some amazing places and I think the best way of describing Wild Edge is to say that it is the best holiday we've ever been on. And it's 'only' a staycation 2 hours from home. And we didn't have to fly. And it beats our luxury honeymoon in Bali. Sorry Bali. Thank you so much Emma and Mick for such a wonderful time, we loved every second and didn't want to leave! You made my 30th birthday one to remember for sure!

The perfect place for a honeymoon retreat This place was more then amazing, it was perfect. After a stressful yet exhilarating wedding, we were ready for a few days away from people and phones. As we drove up from Sydney, it bucketed down rain and we thought of ditching the whole idea for something closer to warms shops and restaurants. Thank goodness we didn’t. We were greeted with spectacular warmth from the caretaker which, can I say, was one of the kindest, most generous people I’ve met. Not a thing was too much for him. The level of service was impeccable, from picking out dvds for us, to preparing the BBQ and cheese packs (which I highly recommend if you're planning to say), to surprising us with champagne and rose petals upon arrival. Even discussing our stay beforehand, he was happy to take all the preparations on board. A true asset for the retreat. Bring your own food, cheese and wine when you stay (unless you get the packs), as you won’t want to leave. The view, the pool, the bathrooms! All above the chain 5 star resorts by miles. We even splurged a little and took a helicopter tour to the wineries from the retreat’s own helipad. This was all organised through the onsite caretaker. He was just marvellous. A truly remarkable place of which we will defiantly visit again.

WE MISS IT ALREADY! It's only been a week since we stayed in Whispering Forest and we miss it already! The retreat is the perfect place for total relaxation and it far exceeded our expectations. On arrival, the owner made us feel very welcome and showed us to our immaculately presented pavillion. The scene was set for the rest of the weekend... cosy fireplace, warm spa,scented candles, soothing music and TOTAL relaxation. On departure we felt like completely different people, refreshed and rejuvenated and ready to start the working week. We would return in a heartbeat!

Why fly to an when we have luxury on our door step? What can I say - my partner surprised me on a weekend away - I had no idea where I was going and we ended up in the Hunter Valley and then a couple of nights at the Wild Edge Retreat. We were blown away to think accommodation like this was so close to home. The private rooms were beautiful, total modern luxury. We stayed in the Wind Spirit Pavilion having our own private infinity edge pool and spa the pictures on the website don't due this Pavilion justice you have to come and experience it to truly appreciate its beauty. We highly recommend everyone who wants some time out with the ultimate indulgence. We believe everyone should come and experience this at least once in a life time regardless of your budget. The owners are fantastic and will do anything to make your experience truly unforgettable.

We love, love, love this place. This was our 2nd stay at Wild Edge Retreat. Our previous stay was in 2008. This place is peaceful, relaxing and ofcourse a retreat to get away from it all, so bring a book or 2 and unwind. We thought our host Emma was professional and attentive. We cannot fault Wild Edge. We will be back.

Great place to unwind Spent three relaxing nights and enjoyed every minute. The location is perfect and the accommodation was very well appointed and comfortable. Well worth the trip. An easy drive to Cessnock and then into the wine region of the Hunter, I would avoid the scenic route though unless you have a 4wd as the road wasn't the best.

Spectacular! Before even leaving for Wild Edge we were so impressed with the service provide with a lovely call from Alan wishing us a safe journey. Alan is such a nice person and his hospitality was so welcoming and really is what makes Wild Edge perfect. He gave us a tour around our room (natures mist) and attention to detail was wonderful. He had music playing and the room nice and heated for our arrival, he really thought of everything. The state of the room was immaculate. The view from our room was spectacular, absolutely breathtaking, and the design of the villa really utilised the natural light perfectly. We couldn't have wished for a more perfect pace to spend a celebration for our 5 year anniversary. It's a magical place, we will definitely be going back.

Highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway. Perfect place to kick back and relax and enjoy your surroundings. Emma and Mick were really hospitable, throwing in some extra oysters on the seafood platter and a delicious birthday cake to boot. Wild edge retreat it's such a beautiful place ,the minute we arrived at the wild edge retreat ,Emma greeted us with a smile and very friendly and welcoming, she's such a beautiful soul,the Pavillion we stayed in was breathtaking, the view was gorgeous, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was yummmmy, everything was perfect and let's not forget the swimming pool with the view,I highly recommend wild edge retreat for a getaway 10/10

Couples Get Away From the moment we booked our stay at Wild Edge we knew this was going to be a very special experience. Emma contacted me to make to go over all the arrangements and nothing was a problem. We arrived at the front gates and we were greeted by Tamara who helped us with our luggage and drove us to our pavilion on their golf cart. We booked Natures Mist , all I can say is the pictures do not do it justice it was amazing. Every small and thoughtful detail had been provided the views were breathtaking. We had a massages booked for Saturday morning absolutely perfect and the location just made it .. The day bed and plunge pool just created this sense of your own piece of paradise. Everyday breakfast provisions were available and a simple phone call to reception for more was never an issue. If you want first class accomodation, service and a very private adults get away this is the place to stay. Thanks to Enma, Mike and Tamara for such an amazing experience. We are having withdrawals ever since..

10 year wedding anniversary Firstly this place is beautiful, quiet and decorated really well. I dont really do reveiws often but always read them, however I've felt compelled to this time as I would have loved some warning myself. I can honestly say my husband and I have never felt more unwelcomed! When we arrived at reception our host immediatly started complaining about lack of water as they are on tank water, then moved onto difficult guests.When shown to our pavillion it got worse, each instruction on how to use or find things was followed by a story of what other guests had done leaving us with the impression that gests are the bain in there lives! Stories of people emptying and refilling the spa, turning the aircon on too low, lighting the fire in summer. On and on it went after just escaping three young children for the first time ever since having kids this was the last thing we needed! We managed to laugh it off however after he had left, unfortunately though the lack of tact continued the next afternoon. After going on a wine tour (Wollombi wine tours, recommend them) we return to find they had serviced the pavillion, something we were not expecting and perhaps a pleasant suprise untill we saw the letter on the table. Now I will admit we were smoking the night before somthing we do whilst trying to take ourselves back 9 years prior to kids, I had read on their website to put water in ash trays which we did do, we also lit citranella candels to ward off the mozzies. Our stay corresponded with a heat wave, so I do understand the bush fire concern as we live in amomgst the bush even more than the place is itself. The letter explaining this concern would have been fairly well recived by us except for the fact it contained the threat of penaties for arson, mentioning fines of up to $100,000 and years of imprisonment!! Really, happy 10 yrs to you both! When I looked back on the experience I realised that the first impression I recived with the phone call from our 'host' which was patronising to say the least, was just the begining of feeling like we had been wecomed to somone's place only to then be continuously reminded what an inconvinience we were being!

Wild edge is an amazing retreat, perfect for a romantic getaway or just to de-stress and unwind. The private pool, tranquil nature setting, spa & the value for your money is just perfect. TV had Foxtel & casting capabilities so we could still watch Netflix, Disney+ etc. We will definitely be back!

First Class, absolute luxury in paradise My husband and I came to Wild Edge for 2 nights after our wedding to relax and reflect on the busy week we had. I had always dreamt of visiting Wild Edge and finally found the perfect reason to visit. Alan and Andrew are the perfect hosts, so warm, welcoming and friendly, and we loved meeting Ruby. We arrived off the main road up a dirt road wondering where we were going in the bush land to be greeted by a secluded paradise. Upon check in we were informed of the DVDs available to borrow and we were whisked away via golf cart to our home Earth Song. The doors were opened and my jaw dropped, the pavilion we stayed in was breathtaking, it was so cosy and warm feeling with lovely touches of candles lit and relaxing music. We were provided with a tour of the facilities and advised the BBQ dinner package would be brought over at 6pm. We also ordered a cheese platter, it was presented perfectly and lasted our entire stay. Every attention to detail was to first class presentation, with the towels having a branch from the garden, a complimentary bottle of local champagne, to warm crusty bread, balsamic and olive, and chocolates served with our BBQ platter. The breakfast provisions were more than substantial for our stay. The boys have thought of everything! The pavilion was immaculate with not one ounce of dust or dirt. We had a super relaxing time and enjoyed the peace, tranquility and luxury just soaking up the stunning views and sunsets. The bathroom was AMAZING with the sunken spa bath and large rainhead shower, we sat watching the sunset for hours. You have a fabulous business, and we can't wait to come back and try another pavilion, perhaps in the winter time to enjoy the fireplace! You won't want to leave when you get here!! Thanks for an unforgettable stay, we will cherish this time until hopefully our next anniversary!! We picked a couple of extra wines for our time away, the food was enough for breakfast and dinner and snacks for two days. Well done Alan and Andrew, you have taken luxury to the next level!

Breathtaking, private and romantic. We stayed in the Wind Spirit pavilion for our wedding anniversary and we absolutely loved it. We were lucky to get gorgeous weather so spent all our time by the beautiful, private pool. The sunken hydrotherapy tub overlooking the beautiful view is just divine. The pavilion was beautifully clean and we had everything we needed to stay and relax for our whole stat. The day bed by the pool was a great place to relax between swims and just soak up the amazing surroundings. Sunsets are gorgeous and we enjoyed them with some champagne while sitting on the recliners on the deck. Alan was lovely and very helpful and provided beautiful breakfast. Highly recommended and we plan to return!

supreme luxury and peace in your own hilltop sanctuary It is a long drive up the unsealed track from Wollemi, but from the moment we arrived at the gates of wild edge retreat we felt at ease. The welcome from hosts Alan and Andrew was warm and genuine but never intrusive, and throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble. The 4 pavilions are cleverly sited, two on each side of the ridge, so that each feels as though it is the only building for miles around and takes full advantage of the superb views across the valleys from the ridge top position. The pavilions are beautifully laid out and furnished to the highest standard. The attention to detail- scented candles and relaxing music from the bose sound system- put you at ease before you step in and take in the magnificent views. The living area is very spacious and well-equipped with everything you could possibly need for a long weekend (including quality kitchen knives!) The more than ample breakfast provisions in the fridge were of the highest quality There is not much to do other than stroll around the pleasant grounds at wild edge but frankly, once installed, we simply did not want to leave our pavilion and that, I think, is the whole point of this place. We shall return.

BEAUTIFUL RETREAT AND STAFF This place is absolutely incredible. The moment we arrived Mick and Emma were super welcoming and efficient. The villa was amazing with candles lit throughout and aircon on as it was a hot very hot day. The villa was super spacious and impeccably clean. My husband and I both agreed hands down the most well appointed retreat we’ve been to, they’ve thought of everything! We had stunning views over Wollombi valley and felt like we were the only people at the retreat during our stay as it it is all so private. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely stunning... amazing quiet place where nothing is a bother or a problem. Very secluded and great for that special romantic and intimate time away without the kids. Highly recommended.

Your own 5 star cottage in the remote bush. Views of rolling hills with no civilisation in sight. Excellent quality furnishings, good kitchen, beautiful deck with day-bed, ok WIFI. Host Alan is excellent in making sure everything goes smoothly. Wood fire, birds in the morning. Did I mention the deck with 180 degree views of rolling hills?Recommend to enjoy down-time at the retreat and not try to drive to the chaos of Hunter Valley every day. Keep in mind it is ~40 minutes from most of the wineries, some of that on dirt track.

Amazing place My hubby and I came up with our friends from Sydney for 5 nights. The first thing was WOW this place is amazing. Everything about this place is a 10/10. There is nothing I can fault. Emma and Mick are so amazing. Emma always has a smile on her face and there to bring anything to your door when you need. 100% will be back. STOP - If you are here then you have found THE ONE Romantic, secluded up market retreat. We stayed in the Natures Mist pavilion complete with private plunge pool and views to die for. Here you are afforded complete privacy for time with your special partner. The hosts are wonderful but keep a discreet distance. The accommodation is exactly as described on website. Having travelled extensively, staying in 5 star hotels, I can honestly say, nothing compares to here. It’s the other side of the world for us in more ways than one and we will certainly be enduring the 24 hour plus journey to return. Well done Emma and Mick, you may only be two months in but you have exceeded our expectations and guaranteed our repeat business. I will have to submit without rating service, location, cleanliness as it won’t let me rate them. Suffice to say all would have received 5 stars.

Words can not describe! Seven letters to describe..P E R F E C T. Such a majestical adventure up into the mountains of Wollombi, once we arrived we were privately chaffered to our pavilion...Earth Song. We found ourselves sitting in the spa looking out to the amazing views whilst we sipped on a local champagne delivered by Emma herself! We had the most relaxing sleep, not to mention being woken up by the natural sunrise is something you don't experience everyday. Breakfast was the beginning of our new favourite Aussie cereal, coco puffs! Sorry we ate them all Emma and Michael! Our two day stay could not have been more perfect and we look forward to returning.

The ultimate in peace quiet and relaxation It was great to be welcomed by Andrew again, This time we chose the wind spirit lodge, with the infinity edge pool and huge deck area and spent our time relaxing, swimming and enjoying the peace and quiet. There was a lovely welcome back card and a bottle of bubbles which was a nice touch. As was the case last time the attention to detail was amazing, the breakfast rations generous and the cooking facilities were first class. If you deserve to be spoilt or know some special who does, shout yourself the wild edge experience.

Spent the weekend here and absolutely loved it. Tucked away from everything, it provides a unique getaway. Highly recommend. Will be back in the winter to experience the cozy fire!
